50th Birthday Cake

'Grease' cake
What better 50th Birthday Cake to have than a GREASE cake.
I made this for my 50th last year. This movie is one of mine and my husbands favorites. This was the first specialty cake I've ever made and the first time using fondant.
I used yellow cake mix and buttercream icing. The fondant I tried to marble with some brown to make the middle layer look like a dance floor. Each layer represents a scene in the movie.
The cars on the bottom are made out of rice crispy treats covered in fondant. I looked up pictures of the cars so I could get them half way right lol.
The second layer is from the senior dance. I had trouble making the figures they're made out of fondant (next time I'll use modeling choc), then the top layer is Danny and Sandy at the shake shack. All the figures are made from fondant.
From the editor:
Amazing job Sandy. Hard to believe it's your first specialty cake. Thanks so much for sharing your 50th birthday cake with us.
Regards,
Michelle (editor)
