Hi, I make cakes as a hobby and I was wondering about almond flour.
Does it make a difference in flavour and texture to use it?

You can quite successfully substitute almond flour for all purpose flour in many cake recipes. There's one trick to know, however. Make sure to use blanched almond flour and not almond meal, which will produce a heavier, denser result.
Almond flour accepts other flavors well so you really don't need to worry about it changing the taste adversely.
I would just experiment. Replace some of the flour in a recipe with almond meal and see if you like what it does for the resulting cake. If you do, replace more of the flour with almond flour next time you bake that recipe.
