Anniversary Cake

40th Anniversary Chocolate Cake
This Anniversary Cake was my third cake, made for my in-laws 40th wedding anniversary.
This cake took about 6 hours total. I probably could have done it quicker, but I'm an inexperienced decorator and a perfectionist to boot :)
It's Chocolate and yellow cake with chocolate buttercream frosting and raspberry fruit filling. Double layer 8 inch and 6 inch round cakes. All from scratch.
The decorations were simple: red ribbon, chocolate curls (made with a potato peeler and hershey chocolate bar), and red spray roses cascading down.
At the conclusion of the party, there was not even a crumb left of this cake. I have to admit, it was delicious!
From the editor:
Hi Cheryl,
What a beautiful, simple design. It just goes to show, you don't need a boat load of fancy schmancy techniques and 20 years of decorating experience to produce a fabulous cake.
Thanks so much for sharing the instructions with us.
Regards,
Michelle (editor)
