Baked fillings?
by Deborah
(Woodlands Tx)
I remember when I was little, my grandmother baked a cake with the filling in it. I don't have that recipe :( and I am trying to craft a giraffe face cake, for my daughter's first birthday, using batter bowls and 9 x 13 pan. I'd like to put a filling baked in the batter bowl cakes. Which fillings can withstand being baked? What is the best process for this? I am relatively new to cake baking.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Deborah,
I don't have a recipe for a cake with the filling baked right in, but I can offer a solution for for filling odd shaped cakes like those baked in a bowl:
Fill a piping bag, fitted with a # 230 Bismarck Tip, with your chosen filling. Poke the tip into the cake at regular intervals and squeeze the filling into the cake as you pull the tip out of the cake.
Good luck.
