banana cake

I am wanting to try your banana cake recipe and wanted to know what kind of topping or frosting would go well with it and do you recommend a filling? Is it best without either?

Hi Terri, I use a yellow cake recipe and carmel icing. Ice the top of the bottom layer..slice a banana thin and fit the pieces on top of the icing..add top layer and finish icing..it is best
the day after it iced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Teri,

Here are my two favorite fillings for banana cake:

1. Gingernut Crunch Filling. This is a buttercream based filing that's super easy to make and surprisingly yummy.

2. Whipped Chocolate Ganache is divine with chocolate cake. It's a little more difficult to get right than buttercream, but so worth it.
