Beach Birthday Cake

Message on a Beach Cake...the words say,
"Kowabunga, Kai! You're 7!"

This Beach Birthday Cake is:
Two-tiered yellow cake (from mix).
Vanilla buttercream (from scratch).
Starburst + Airhead candy decorations.

I tinted most of the frosting light blue for the ocean, reserving a little of it white for the tops of the waves.

The sand was ground up Rice Crispies cereal, granola bars. I sprinkled a little Sugar-in-the-Raw on top for extra beach sparkle.

All of the figures and letters were modeled from Starburst + Airhead candies.

Please forgive the poor quality photo of my Beach Birthday Cake. In addition to being no baker (I used a mix!), I am also no photographer (photo speaks for itself).
