best kind of cake for covering in fondant

What kind of cake is good to use when you are going to cover it in fondant?

From the editor:

You can successfully cover almost any kind of cake in fondant, but if you're planning on making the cake more than 12 hours ahead of time, I would recommend choosing a denser type of cake such as pound cake.

I definitely wouldn't use a really light, airy cake like angel food cake, for example.
