hey Michelle, I've been asked to make a race car cake which will be my first, but not too sure as to what cake will work best. Appreciate your advice. thanks

Hi Hany,
For carving shapes, like a car, something like pound cake would be a good choice.
Here's a few tips for carving cakes:
1. refrigerate the crumb coated cake overnight before carving.
2. carve until you're happy with the shape, then crumb coat again to cover the carved areas.
3. make sure that you have a good support structure in place - dowels, cake circles etc.
Good luck and don't forget to come back and show off your masterpiece.
Regards,
Michelle (editor)
