Breast Cancer Awareness Bake Sale

by Deedee
(New York)

Hi,

I need a good idea for a cake decoration that I will be baking for a breast cancer awareness bake sale. The signature pink loop bow is OK, but I want it to be unique a "diva-ish" -is that even a word :).

It needs to be easy because I have little to no cake decorating experience...

Thanks!!! Deedee

P.S. The bake sale is on Oct. 4th (Next Sunday).

Breast Cancer Cupcakes

Hi Deedee,

breast cancer cupcakes

Are you game? Here's an idea for "Dolly Partons" I found at Carousels Cupcakes in my old hometown of Brisbane, Australia that I hope you'll like:

1. Bake up some Pink Velvet cupcakes - use your favorite Red Velvet Cake recipe, except make it pink instead of red. Alternatively, tint any favorite vanilla cake recipe pink. Use pink powdered food color or gel paste food color for the best results.

2. Fill the cupcake liners 3/4 full so you'll get domes cupcakes when they bake.

3. Frost the cupcakes with flesh colored frosting, achieved by tinting with copper gel paste food color.

4. Top each cupcake with a nipple made from melted peanut butter chips. To make them, pipe a flat circle of melted chocolate, wait 5 minutes for it to set, then pipe a small mound on top of the circle.

5. Package them in pairs (of course), wrapped in clear cellophane, gathered at the top and tied with, what else, but pink ribbon!

Happy baking.

Please come back and show off your cakes once you've made them.

Regards,
Michelle (editor)
