Carving

Dear Easy Cake Ideas,

I'm in charge of my next door neighbor's 40th birthday cake. I'm a beginner at making cakes.

What's the easiest kind of cake to carve?

From the editor:

Hi Mak,

The easiest cake to carve if you're a beginner is definitely pound cake. Here's a tip for carving your first cake:

* Let the cake cool completely, then refrigerate overnight. to allow the cake to firm up. This will make carving easier.

Good luck.

Regards,
Michelle (editor)

We freeze ours

I know I am really late replying but maybe someone else needs to know.
I have been wrapping my cakes very tightly after removing from the pan and putting them in the freezer for about 2 hours before carving. This firms up the cakes nicely. I love Michelle's cream cheese pound cake, and agree that the dense pound cakes are easiest to carve!
