This Castle Cake was all 1sts for me:
*cake, ganache, and frosting from scratch
*decorating
*tiers

I used the following pan sizes:
10x3,8x3,6x2,& 9x13 used for cutting up to form castle.

I used cake boards and straws used to support the Castle Cake. The cakes are deliberatley off center.

It was for my fourth child Alina's 1st birthday.
Yellow cake colored pink, buttercream frosting, and chocolate ganache filling with fresh strawberries.
The castle itself took a lot of thought. The castle cakes on a hill, I saw online were made of fondant. I did not want any fondant. I wanted something elegant, not too loud but still girly.

I cut the 9x13 into 2 squares about 3x3" and 1 smaller to form the main part. the towers are the edges of the cake cut into rectangles. 3 cubes of cake on the top front.

Yes, that is a Hershey kiss on top forming a turret, not the jumbo one a medium sized one.

The flags are fancy ribbon on toothpicks. In the center of the Castle Cake is a Cinderella sticker on a toothpick. The drawbridge is made from pretzel sticks rolled in frosting.

To get the stair path to look like wood I put a little white frosting with brown on top to give it a "grainy" effect. Blue icing gel was used around the castle and cake to look like ponds with yellow frosting to look like ducks. Milk Duds were used to look like rocks.

Not shown is Nerds for pebbles. The figurine was from a jewelry box. This cake took 3x as long as I expected but, should of known that with my four kids running around plus two friends,Thank God for bedtime.

For the party I also made chocolate lollipops in the shape of castles,Cinderella and her carriage. Also, chocolate covered pretzel rods with sprinkles along with the goody bags. The adults really liked that they got a take home a treat too.

P.S remember to put something to hold the cake to the platter mine slid and ruined the "Happy Birthday".

Thanks Michelle for writing back.
