chocolate cake with a few requests

Hi There!

You've helped me tremendously before, and I am so sure you'll be helpful once again. I committed to making a birthday cake for about 30 people at the end of this month. The requests for the cake are as follows: chocolate cake with strawberries and bananas and whipped cream. Any suggestions as to how I can make this all work? I am fairly new to using fruit and and whipped cream in my cakes, so I'm not sure how to combine this all. By the way, I intend on making this cake covered in fondant; that part I am familiar with. Hope to hear from you soon! Thank you!

Alternating Fillings

Here's one idea you could use:

Between the first and second layers, add a layer of stabilized whipped cream with thinly sliced bananas and between the second and third layers add a layer of the cream with thinly sliced strawberries.

Here's the recipe for the stabilized whipped cream:

* Soften 1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin in 1 tablespoon of cold water for 5 minutes.

* Heat until the gelatin melts (microwave for 30 seconds on high, check then repeat if necessary).

* Add to 1 cup heavy whipping cream, whisking until gelatin and cream are well blended. Refrigerate for 1 hour.

* Add 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract and beat with electric mixer until cream is thick and holds its shape. It will thicken even more as it sets in refrigerator. Will hold for 2-3 days.

For a fabulous flavor twist that pairs beautifully with fruit, add 2-3 ounces white chocolate (melted and cooled), with the powdered sugar and vanilla.
