For my Curious George Birthday Cake, I made a funfetti cake with with vanilla filling.

The frosting is buttercream. On the sides I did banana trees and topped it with a Monkey.

The small cake was the birthday boy's personal cake.

From the editor:

Thanks for sharing your beautiful Curious George birthday cake with us, Stephanie.

You didn't say, but I'm assuming the monkey and trees are made with fondant.

If any of our lovely readers are a bit intimidated by fondant, get yourself a copy of any book by Maureen Carlson. These fabulous books will take you by the hand and show you how to make tons of adorable figures for all kinds of cakes. Even though she writes about clay modelling, the techniques transfer beautifully to fondant.
