Chloe's Curious George Cake

Chloe's Curious George Cake

I made this Curious George Cake for a little girl's first birthday.

Chloe is a HUGE Curious George fan so I decided to make her a very "girly" birthday cake with a Curious George twist.

Curious George is actually popping out of the top of the cake along with some bananas flying everywhere. This is my interpretation of marrying the two ideas.

It's chocolate cake with cookies n' cream filling all made from scratch. The layers are 10", 8" and 6". The cake didn't take long to make.

What was a little more labor and detail intensive was making a Curious George figure out of fondant and letting it set up well, so that he wouldn't break once I tried to put the cake together!! :)

I covered the cakes with marshmallow fondant. It is decorated with both fondant flowers that I made with cutouts from Wilton and buttercream icing. It was really fun watching this cake come together!!

I love your creation! I'm pulling together ideas for my nephew's first birthday.

My question is, are the bananas also fondant? Or did you use something else to stick in the wire?

Thanks so much!!

How fun! I'm making a similar layered cake for MY Chloe, only using a horse theme. (although she does love Curious George as well!)

GREAT JOB!
