Cakes I make from scratch seem to come out dry. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Tips for a moister cake

Hi Donna,

Here are a few tips that come to mind:

1. The oven temperature may be too high. Check your oven temperature with an inexpensive oven thermometer, available from any hardware store.

2. Baking time may be too long - check the cakes earlier than it says in the recipe, after about 20 minutes, then every 5-10 minutes until done.

3. You can substitute oil for any butter called for in the recipe. This will yield a more moist cake.

4. Wrap the outside of the cake pans in damp strips of old towel or use Magi-Cake Strips
