Elephant Cake

Ramsie's Elephant
I am just a beginner cake decorator. This Elephant Cake was also the first cake I had made for someone other than my own children, so I was a bit nervous when I agreed to make the cake.
The only instruction I got was that they wanted an elephant cake for a 2 year old girl. I spent a lot of time searching on the internet for different ideas. After looking at different cakes I decided that I would just design my own.
I used a Wilton Teddy Bear Pan.
When the cake had cooled down, I cut away the bear ears so that I could add the big elephant ears. I rolled out some chocolate chip cookie dough bought at the store and cut out some ears, eyes and the trunk for the elephant and baked them. While the cookies were baking I made up a batch of buttercream icing and made what I thought was a cute color for the elephant. I was going for the cute childish looking elephant using the Huffalump from Pooh as inspiration.
After icing the cake, I iced the cookies and simply placed the ears up against the cake on top of a board. I then put on the trunk and the eyes and iced the details on. This was a fun cake to make and even better when the little neighbor girl got to see it. I have thus started a reputation as the cake guy in our circle of friends.
