Elmo Cupcakes

These Elmo Cupcakes were for a friends twins who turned two.

Vanilla cake with Michelle's fabulous buttercream. I had to use a whole ounce of red food colouring for this and I found after two days (I was trying to save the leftovers for my kids) it left a bad taste. Unfortunately, this is a "side effect" of red colouring! There is "no taste" red gel but I find it is not as "red". I used Wilton tip # 233.

Before frosting, I placed a half moon of black fondant for the mouth and piped a triangle around the fondant and then covered the rest of the cupcake. I used white chocolate melting wafers for the eyes with a small dab of black fondant on top of each. I dyed white fondant with orange gel colouring for the nose.

From the editor:

These Elmo Cupcakes are so cute. What a great idea for any kids birthday party or even a school event. Super cute and easy to serve since they;re cupcakes.

Thanks for sharing them with us.
