Can I use chocolate pudding as a filling in a chocolate cake?

From the editor:

If you first make a dam for the filling, this would be fine. To do this:

Pipe a 1/2" thick ring of stiff buttercream around the perimeter of the layer to be filled. Now add your chocolate pudding inside the ring, filling up to the same height as the buttercream. Add another cake layer and repeat.
