Finishing Ahead
How many days before an event can I completely finish decorating my cake?
From the editor:
I wouldn't recommend finishing a cake completely, more than two or three days before an event.
Having said that, it totally depends on what kind of decorating you're doing. If you're covering a cake in fondant, it can't be refrigerated once it's covered, so one to four days ahead is a good guide. If you're using all buttercream frosting and decorating, you can actually freeze a cake pretty successfully for up to two weeks.
