Need a stunning flower cupcake idea?

This Flower Cupcake is a simple idea taken to a whole new place. Imagine 100 of these stunning little sculptures as Wedding Cupcakes! What a breathtaking display!
Of course they’re perfect for any occasion when you really want the ‘wow’ factor. Display them in a smaller group in a large galvanized tub for a garden themed birthday party or place one at each place setting for an unforgettable end to an elegant dinner party.
The Sunflower looks impressive but it’s really quick and easy to make. All you need are a few humble ingredients and a little inspiration (that’s where I can help!).
Presentation really makes all the difference. These would still be cute in jumbo cupcake papers but planted in individual flower pots they become truly memorable.
Obviously you can use any type of cake you like to make these cupcakes, but they're really great with a rich chocolate cake. When you dig into the flower pot it resembles real dirt.
This is a really fun cake idea with so many possibilities.

- fill the muffin liners about 2/3 full with batter for baking.
- bake the cakes and cool completely.
make the Petals
- melt the candy melts, 1 cup at a time, in a microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds, stir and repeat completely melted and smooth.
- using the back of a spoon or a paintbrush, smear some 2" strips of melted chocolate about 1/8" thick on to a piece of wax paper, making sure that they have one wide end tapering to a narrower end, as shown.
- repeat this as many times as needed for the humber of petals you need (depending on howmany of these Flower Capcakes you're making).
- let set for about 30 minutes then carefully peel each petal off the wax paper. It’s that simple – now you have sunflower petals!

assembly

- frost the top of your Flower Cupcake(s) generously with the chocolate ganache.
- arrange a layer of chocolate sunflower petals around the top edge of the cupcakes, by pushing them gently in to the ganache to secure.
- repeat with another layer of petals, staggering slightly from the first, as shown.
- using the chocolate ganache and a Ziploc bag (medium hole snipped in one corner) or piping bag and #12 tip, pipe ½” diameter beads to form the sunflower center, as shown.

You're done! Now go get a well deserved cup of coffee and sit back for a few minutes to admire your handiwork. Remember to take a picture while your masterpiece still looks perfect.
