fondant on a 15 x 11 x 2" sheet cake

I want to put fondant on a 15 x 11 x 2" sheet cake for a baby shower. Then put another square cake on top 9 x 9 x 2" cake. Shall I need dowels?

From the editor:

Hi Hilda,

Yes, you will need dowels for support, since the fondant will make the cakes quite heavy.

When in doubt, always add the dowels.

Regards,
Michelle (editor)

THANKS A LOT!

Thank you very much for your answer.

I put 8 dowels around and one in the middle. Even though, this time I had a lot of problems with the fondant (it broke many times when I lifted, then finally, I put it on and cover some cracks with decorations), I had a lot of compliments. I don't think my fondant recipe is very good. Do you have a good recipe?

Thanks again,
Hilda
