Fourth of July Cake

by Allie
(Vermont)

I made this 4th of July Cake with colored fondant and a store bought cake mix.

1. Make a mix of Red Velvet cake and a mix French Vanilla cake. Be sure you make two cakes per box.

2. After cakes have cooled, stack the cakes going red, white, red, white, for a Flag striped inside.

3. Cover the cake in white fondant and cut out red, white and blue fondant stars. Layer them on top of each other in a scattered look.

4. Add piping or fondant balls around the bottom and put tooth picks in the middle with fondant stars on them. Enjoy!

Hi Allie,

Great 4th of July Cake. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

I love the way you used the two different colors of cake batter to achieve a striped effect when the cake is cut.

Regards,

Michelle (editor)
