Guitar Cake

Rock 'n Roll Baby...this Guitar Cake is sure to be a hit!
This Guitar Cake is a filled 1/2 sheet cake. The cake is frosted with buttercream frosting.
I made the guitar about a week before the cake. All the pieces on the guitar are made of fondant and the strings are made of thin wire. The guitar itself is not cake. I carved a piece of 1" Styrofoam into the shape of the guitar and used blue fondant to cover entire form.
This Guitar Cake was quite a challenge, but well worth the look on my grandson's face. It was a great hit at the party!
I have been decorating cakes for many years just for fun. This was my first time making and using fondant. If I was going to change anything it would be to roll the fondant thinner and use spaghetti in place of the wire.
