Gymnastic Cake

I'm looking for ideas on how to decorate a gymnastic cake for my soon to be 8 year old daughter. She loves gym class, and we will hold the party at our local YMCA. It will be a half sheet size. The colors will be a light purple and pink to match the decor I found.
Thanks for your help!!

Gymnastics Cake Ideas
by: Michelle (admin)

Hi J,

Without knowing your skill level, it's hard to recommend techniques, but here are a few ideas:

cut the sheet cake across the width, into four sections. Stack them to make a vaulting horse and make either a black silhouette figure jumping over the horse, or a full color, 3D figure from fondant. You could use the one color chocolate piping method to make the silhouette figure.

For a simpler alternative, do an image search on-line for gymnastics pictures of each apparatus and print them out to use as templates for silhouette figures. Place the figures around the sheet cake and add decorative details in your colors (pink, purple).

Regards,
