3. Use a toothpick to mark out a path for the graveyard and press cookie crumbs into the top of the cake to fill in the path.

4. Tint some buttercream dark green with the leaf green food color. You'll need about 2 cups of buttercream for the grass.
Fill a decorating bag about 2/3 full with the buttercream and fit a #234 tip. Start filling in the grass around the perimeter of the cake and work your way in, edging the path as you go.
Continue until the everything but the path has been covered in grass.

5. Use the chocolate piping technique to make several white tombstone shapes, about 2 1/2" high. Finish with "RIP" piped in melted dark chocolate, tinted black.

6. Use the chocolate piping technique to make six or seven white ghost shapes.
You'll only need four to complete the cake, but it's always good to have extras in case any break.

7. Use the chocolate piping technique to make two or three black tree silhouettes.

8. Use the chocolate piping technique to make several yellow full moons.

9. Time to assemble...
Place one tombestone a the end of the path. Place a tree behind it and a full moon behind the tree. Secure the pieces by pushing them very gently into the cake.
Place two more tombstones on either side of the path and add a ghost behind each one.
Line the path on both sides with candy corn, inserted with the pointed end down.

10. Finish with two giant spiders made using black licorice candies for the body and 1 1/2" pieces of string licorice for the legs, gently pushing the pieces into the buttercream to secure.
You're done! Now go take some birthday cake pictures of your own and show them off here.
