A Happy Feet Birthday

This cake was for a birthday party of 100 guests for a one-year-old.

It consisted of a 14" carrot cake, 2 10" chocolate cakes stacked, a 6" butter cake.

The bottom layer was covered with marbleized fondant to resemble the ocean. The 10" high middle tier consisted of four 10" layers that were torted and filled with raspberry buttercream. Two layers were assembled and frosted and supports were inserted. A piece of rolled fondant was laid atop. Then, the second two layers were frosted and set atop the first two layers. The whole was frosted smooth and covered with a huge 36" round of fondant.

The middle layer was textured using a dish mat and painted with gel colors mixed with vodka. Mumbles head was made from black fondant and his eyes of blue and black. This mouth was made of a n orange bill and bottom "lip". His tongue was created from red fondant.

The top layer was covered in fondant and the letters are fondant cutouts. The "baby blanket that covers the top tier is shot through with "gold" paint.
