How do I make gold icing?
by Anne Taylor
(Arlington TN)
I have "volunteered" to be the monthly birthday cake maker at church and would like an Epiphany themed idea for decorating the top.
I am so new to this hobby and only offered if no-one else came forward. Guess what? No-one came forth!! I do have the 3 Magi, but that is all. I thought about white and gold as the colors but quickly found that I can't get gold icing. My first class is on Monday and I need a cake by Sunday!!

From the editor:
Hi Anne,
This won't help you in time for your first cake, but for future projects:
You can use Gold Sparkle Dust on royal icing or crusting buttercream and get a beautiful gold icing to use in your color schemes.
Try this easy royal icing recipe and experiment a little. It's a very versatile icing.
