how do i store a cake covered in modeling chocolate?

You said that you can't store a cake covered in modeling chocolate in the refrigerator as it will be too hard to cut.

Could you store it in the refrigerator and take it out several hours before you need to cut it?

From the editor:

Ideally, you wouldn't store a cake covered in modeling chocolate, in the fridge.

However, I realize there are times when this may be necessary and, if that's the case, just remove the cake a few hours before you need to serve it (about 3-4 hours).
