How long can I leave out the Cream Cheese Frosting recipe from this site?

I was wondering how long can I leave out the Cream Cheese Frosting recipe that you provide on this website? I see that it has lemon juice, so does that keep the frosting from spoiling?

Hi Celeste,

The cream cheese frosting can be left at room temperature for a few hours only, so refrigerate your cake until about an hour before serving - just long enough to bring it to room temperature.
