Lactose free recipes

Do you have a recipe for a lactose free cake and icing?

I am making a cake in the shape of golf shoes, so I need it to be a carvable kind of cake. I have made the shoes before, but the first ones didn't have to be lactose free. Do you have any ideas for an icing also, aside from just a Crisco and icing sugar "buttercream"?

Thank you for your help! You have a great site here!

From the editor:

Hi Laurie,

Making any of the cake recipes here lactose free is simple:

1. replace any milk in the recipe with the 'lactose free' variety, or your favorite rice, soy or almond milk.

2. replace the butter in any recipe with Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.

3. You can also replace all of the butter and shortening in a buttercream recipe with Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. It tastes far better and is actually good for you!
