Marble cake

Hi,
I have tried your marble cake recipe. It was better than others I have tried.
I didn't have cornstarch at home so I didn't use it in the recipe. the cake was a bit sticky on the top and as for the taste it was not that tasty.
Do you think it's because of the missing cornstarch? Or I have simply missed something?
Can you please tell me if my proportions were good for ingredients? I used (I tried to convert it in grams)
225g of butter
200g of sugar
250ml of milk- (which for us is 1 cup) and the rest as indicated.
please advice
thanks.

Hi Vanissa,
Here's the correct conversions, to grams, for the ingredients you mentioned:
butter 226 grams (2 sticks)
sugar 450 grams (2 cups)
milk 240 ml (1 cup)
The sugar amount you used is low, which probably accounts for the taste issue.
You didn't mention this, but I'm assuming you replaced the corn starch with the same amount of all purpose flour. If not, that would explain the sticky top. It's fine to use all, all purpose flour, it will just give you a slightly denser cake.
I am working on metric conversions for all the recipes in the near future. In the mean time I hope this helps.
