modeling chocolate figures

I wanted to make a hula dancer using modeling chocolate...how do I get her to stand up on the cake? Do I need to add some sort of rod for support? I want them to look nice and not look like they have any support holding them up.

From the editor:

Hi Sandy,

For standing figures you really do need some kind of support. Seated figures are OK by themselves though.

Just use a bamboo skewer or cake dowel, carefully inserted and no one will be any the wiser.
