Need Ideas For a Cross Cake?

by Leslie

My daughters birthday falls on the first day of school this year. She has requested a "cross" cake to share with her class, in a Christian school. I have the pan but am very short on ideas to decorate it.

A Jewel Encrusted Cross
by: Anonymous

Hi Leslie,

I have a really simple idea for you that would be really beautiful for your daughter's cross cake:

Frost your cross cake in pale gray buttercream then paint the entire cake with edible silver luster dust. Finish by outlining all edges of the cross with three rows of silver dragees (2 rows of large then a row of small ones).

Your finished cake will look like a beautiful jewel encrusted cross.
For a twist on the presentation, use a large grass tip #234 to pipe a carpet of soft grass for the cross to rest in and finish with a generous sprinkling of ginger snap cookie crumb 'sand' around the grass.

Hopefully this info has been helpful. If I can answer any other questions for you, please let me know. Good luck. I would love to know how it turns out!
