Princess Birthday Cake complete with stunning Tiara

This Princess Birthday Cake is two tiered with 10" and 6" round double layered cakes. The cake was strawberry with buttercream icing, which I then covered in fondant.

The stripes are also made of fondant. The top tier has a quilting design I made by hand with with royal icing dots on it. The pearls around it are hand made of fondant covered in luster dust.

The tiara on top I mad with royal icing. It has a feather boa wrapped around the bottom of the cake.

w/o a microwave

If you don't have a microwave you can melt the marshmallows in a pan over low heat on the stove top. If you have ever made rice crispy treats, it tells you on there how to do it or you can google the recipe.

How to make the tiara

I made the tiara by drawng out the pattern I wanted on to wax paper. Then find a cup or bowl, anything that s rounded with tall sided on it, and wrap it around it and tape the sides. You want the cup to be the size of your top tier, like mine was a 6". Then pipe your royal icing onto the pattern. You will want to do several layers of it. BUt be sure each layer is dry before doing another one. I always allow about 2-3 days for drying time.Once it is dry, untape the sides of the wax paper, gently pull the cup or bowl away from the paper. Then gently pull the wax paper away from the tiara. Hope this was helpful!
