Strawberry Fields

Hi Alysha,

Rather than the same old circle of strawberries around the top of the cake, try this 'floral' approach for something different:

Leaving the green top on the strawberries, slice them vertically several times leaving about 1/4" at the top, so they'll still be in one piece.

Arrange them so that the green top of the strawberry is facing down, to form the flower calyx, and fan the sliced part out to form the flower petals.

Place the flowers all around the sides of the cake, so that some of the petals sit above the top edge. Tint a little buttercream green and pipe stems and leaves below each 'flower'. Sprinkle some brown sugar/gingersnap cookie crumb sand around the base of your cake and you have an instant flower garden!
