Rubber Ducky Tub Cake

Rubber Ducky Tub Cake

I made this cake for my daughter's rubber ducky first birthday party. It's very simple and worked great for me since I am absolutely not an experienced baker or decorator. Although not all the decorations are edible, it turned out pretty cute and I got lots of compliments!
I stacked two 9 x13 cakes made from the white cake recipe from this website, and lightly filled it with the awesome buttercream recipe, also from this website. I just cut out a small place for "water" on the top layer. I then crumb coated it and let it set in the refrigerator for about an hour (it was 100% humidity here in the south the day I tried to make this cake and could not skip this step). Then I frosted it with buttercream using a little blue for the water. I also added a few blue sugar crystals to add some sparkle to the water.
The soap bar and tiles were easily crafted by melting colored chocolate wafers and pouring into inexpensive chocolate molds.
The faucet for the tub was shaped from gum paste and I placed handles I bought on clearance next to it.
The bubbles were a genius idea, I simply bought some iridescent glass Christmas ornaments and placed them around the tub and a few in the water.
Last I placed a little rubber ducky candle on top and printed a Happy birthday sign on vellum that stuck to the chocolate soap bar.
It took me less than 3 hours to make, the only difficulty I had was trying to use buttercream in 100% humidity, so my frosting isn't very smooth and it was quickly melting off the cake!
