storing a finished cake

hi, I've made a rich fruit cake for a retirement home for a guess the weight raffle, people are going to be picking it up all the time so it needs to be wrapped in some clear plastic ... should i use cling film or the plastic that florists use.... thanks

Wrapping Fruit Cake
by: Michelle (editor)

I would place the cake on a piece of heavy duty cardboard, slightly larger than the cake, then wrap the whole thing in a large square of celophane (like florists use). Gather the ends together and tie with ribbon.

This will give your guessers a handle to lift the cake with and protect the cake from handling.
