Strawberry and Banana Filling Ideas

by Francesca

So my family gets this kind of cake from a local bakery which is pretty much a chocolate cake with strawberry and banana filling and it is topped off with chocolate icing.  Now rather than buying it, I want to make it instead. What do you suggest I can do with the filling? I was also thinking of using the "extra rich chocolate buttercream" to finish off my cake but maybe you have something better in mind? I love chocolate so I think the chocolatier, the better. But not something too sweet like the sheet cake you can get at the supermarket.

Thank you so much!

Hi Francesca,

Try this combination. It'll knock your socks off:

The best Banana cake you've ever eaten, with whipped chocolate ganache filling. Divine!

Also, paint melted, slightly cooled chocolate on the cut side of each layer of cake before filling and assembling. It adds another dimension to the flavors.

You could also add sliced, fresh strawberries between each layer, placed directly on top of the chocolate ganache.

Trust me - your family will never go back to that bakery!
