Strawberry/Fruit cake filling

hi!!
I have been trying to find out this certain filling (also used as frosting as well) that is commonly used in the strawberry shortcakes or fruit topped cakes sold at the big grocery stores... It always states that it's made with fresh creme. Do you know what fillings are made with fresh creme? I find buttercream to be too sweet and that filling is my ultimate filling!

Hi Nazia,

It sounds like a Bavarian Cream prehaps, wich is a custard based filling that has whipped cream folded in to it. It's a fabulous filling that's rich but not sweet like American style buttercream.

If you're looking for less sweet options, you would also probably like Swiss Meringue Buttercream, which is a cooked meringue style buttercream that contains a small amount of regular sugar, not the large amount of powdered sugar that makes many buttercreams too sweet.
