Substitution for Shortening?

Can I substitute butter for the shortening in your frosting and filling recipes? I know shortening would probably make the textures denser and may hold better, but I don't like to use shortening in baking for health reasons.

Hi,

Yes, you can absolutely substitute butter for shortening in any of the frosting or filling recipes. The thing to be aware of is that butter will not hold up as well in the heat as shortening, so just make allowances for that and you'll be fine.
