thomas the tank engine cake

by vikki

hi, could you give me more information on how you made this cake, for example how you made the boiler did you fill the tin right up and how long did you cook it for and how to get it out of the tin. and how did you ice it

From the editor:

Hi Vikki,

The Thomas Cake was submitted by one of our visitors, but I can answer those questions for you:

To make the boiler, line the bottom and sides of the can with parchment or wax paper and grease really well to prevent sticking. Fill the can to about 2/3 full with batter and bake for around an hour, checking at 50 minutes and every 10-15 minutes after that, until a cake tester inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.

To ice the cake, use a #18 star tip, or similar, and pipe the stars very close together to give a solid color finish.

I hope this helps.

Don't forget to take lots of pictures of your cake and come back here to show it off.
