tips for fillng a cupcake wedding cake

I was thinking of making a cupcake wedding cake for my sister. My question is about the filling. Would you fill the cupcakes before or after baking? If you fill them afterward, how would you do it?

From the editor:
Hi Regina,

You would fill the cupcakes after baking, usding one of two methods:

1. Remove a small inverted cone shaped piece from each cupcake, using a small serrated knife. Spoon or pipe the filling into hole, to about 2/3 full then replace the cone after, cutting the narrow end off. Frost as usual.

2. Use a decorating bag fitted with a tip #230, known as a bismarck tip. You push the tip into the center of the cupcake and wiggle it around a little. Then as you pull the tip out of, you squeeze the filling into the space made by the tip.

Good luck with your cupcake wedding cake. Make sure to take lots of pictures, so you can come back here and show off your masterpiece.

Regards,
