U.S. to Australian conversion

Is 1cup in the US the same as 1 cup in Australia?
Same as is 1 tbs in the US the same as 1tbs in Australia?

From the editor:

Hi Shelley,

A cup in Australia is a little larger than a cup in the US:
1 US cup = 3/4 cup and 2 tbsp and 1 dessertspoon
1 US tablespoon = 1 dessertspoon plus 1 teaspoon

Wouldn't it be nice if we all just used the same measurements, worldwide?

I still have lots of my cookbooks from Australia and now that I'm living in the US, I have to remember to convert ingredients when I use them.

I Hope this helps.

Regards,
Michelle (editor)
