using store bought icing?

Hi! I am wondering if I use store bought icing for the cake will my fondant still stick to it? are there any other icing recipes besides buttercream?
Thank you
From the editor:
Hi Becky,
You can absolutely use store bought frosting for a fondant covered cake.
Buttercream is the most commonly used frosting under fondant, but you can also glaze your cake with slightly thinned seedless fruit preserves if you don't want to use buttercream. This method requires more trimming and perfecting of the cake surface to ensure a smooth finish, since you have no buttercream to fill any dips or imperfections before adding the fondant.
Good luck.
