which bowl to mix a cake in

just wondering whether I can mix a cake mix in a stainless steel bowl. someone said that if you don't mix it in a certain bowl, for example glass it won't rise correctly is this true?

From the editor:

I don't believe it makes any difference for most cake mixes. I've used both glass and stainless without any problems at all.
